M.I.A = Migraine In Action!

Eeee gads! Well that certainly wasnt planned, migraine took me down from Tuesday until Friday, it was a right sided temple migraine which didnt respond to my abortives or painkillers.

So I didnt get to do any new nails until this morning, although I did wake up at 6am with a left temple migraine but took my abortive and painkillers and its gone off.

So anyway I decided I needed bright and cheerful nails and I sure got that :)

I did 2 coats of Color Club Wham Pow (Orange) and Warhol (Pink) I then stamped the alternate colours using Virago Varnish Beet Ice and Blood Orange Chill. Plate used was Bundle Monster BM-XL02 and my stamper is the Big Bling by Clear Jelly Stamper. All topped off with Love Angeline topcoat.

What do you think? Arnt they fabulously bright :)

Zoya Yummy with Zoya Maisie

Today I have the gorgeous Yummy a dusty light blue, this was opaque in one easy coat, perfect formula, I then added 2 coats of Maisie over my middle fingers, sadly my bottle of Maisie has lost her label.

Yummy is very shiny and doesnt need a topcoat.

My Maisie swatch stick has both black and white undies.

Into The Water by Paula Hawkins

Morning

I do love a good book, I read a lot, when I have a migraine I cannot watch TV its all too loud with lots of colour. I also have limited sight so use a kindle paperwhite.

Paula Hawkins is the lady behind the fantastic Girl on the Train which was also made into a film, Into the Water is her second novel.

Into the Water starts with Julia (Jules) finding out her sister Danielle (Nel) has died by drowning but all is not what it seems, events in their past have ment that Jules hasn't spoken to Nel in years, Beckford is not a happy place for Jules and Nel's daughter Lena isnt happy to see her aunt either.

Nel was working on a novel about the towns Drowning Pool where witches have been drowned and its where Nel went to think, its also where a lot of women from Beckford have died either by their own hand or not.

Lots of people even seem happy that Nel is dead.......

The style of this book is a chapter from each of the main players from their point of view so the story does jump around a little as its not a linear narrative, I am not a fan of this style of book but the story was very good, I thought I had totally sorted out who had done what until the very last chapter!

Zoya Clementine and Willow

Two more from Untried Mountain.

Today on the blog I have gone peachy coral with the beautiful Clementine the shimmery coral and Willow the peachy one, Willow does have some shimmer in the bottle but it doesnt show up on the nail :(

These were both sweet 2 coaters, I then put Raine on both my ring and pinky fingers then a coat of matte topcoat over my middle fingers :) Raine is such a versatile polish, I can see me putting this over everything

Zoya Delia and Raine

Today on the blog I have 2 polishes, the gorgeous Delia from the new sunshine 2018 collection and the stunning Raine from the original classic collection. Two more from Untried Mountain.

The amazing but confusing Raine, this is a milky grey blue but has a very strong red to gold flash, I did 3 coats on its own then on my middle fingers 2 coats over black. The Swatch stick has black under it to show the flash 😃 This is such an unusual polish its milky but duochromey with that red to gold flash. The formula one both of these was perfection, no running or pooling, Raine was just sheer and I think after I use it a couple of times it might go down to being a 2 coater. Delia
is such a gorgeous colour 😍would have been a one coater if I hadn't mucked up the first coat  🙄

Amazing Zoya Nail Mail

A few days ago someone from the Zoya Group on facebook posted about a website that had quite a few older discontinued Zoya so of course I had a look and I am super happy with what I managed to grab.

So I managed to pick up Maisie the last of the glass fleck polishes from 2012.
Elsie is from the original classic collection Zoya brought out in the early 2000's.
Amber is also from the original classic collection as is Raine, they also reused the name Rayne in the Delights collection from spring 2105.
Willow is from the Re-Cher-che collection from possibly spring 2006, I also own Caresse, Arielle and Fawne.

So Left or Right above we have Maisie, Elise, Amber, Raine and Willow :)

Left to Right above are Maisie, Opal and the second use of Chloe :) these are the Fleck Effect polishes from 2012.

Left to Right Buffy, Angel and Willow, I am a big Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan so just had to have Willow when I already had Buffy and Angel :)

Zoya Charity

Well the botox kicked my ass and I was in bed by 8.30pm last night!

Today I have the stunning Charity, she is a mauve pink with gold shimmer, the formula on this was perfect, it went exactly where I put it and was opaque in one coat.

I then decided to stamp using the DRK nails Magic Garden plate, except I picked up the wrong polish but it wasnt a disaster so I rolled with it, my middle fingers have Zoya Nova as the stamping polish and then my ring fingers have Zoya Leisel, I then put a matte topcoat on to help with seeing the stamping.

Botox for Migraine

Today I had my second botox treatment for migraine, todays shots hurt more than the first time but then again I did have a migraine come on about 30 minutes before my appointment, I did take an abortive which backed the migraine off.

So botox is used in much smaller doses for migraine than when its used to stop wrinkles.

I had approx 40 injections to my head over my forehead, temples, behind my ears down the back of my neck and into the blades of my shoulders.  Last time it took about a week for me to feel the effects, my shoulders are always tight and when the botox kicked in they got very stiff and I found it painful to turn my head or move my shoulders.

I'm hoping this round backs the migraines off even more than the first set of injections.

Weekend News

Morning all

Well what a last couple of days, firstly some sad news, as Tiberius was getting more settled into the house sadly he was also getting more aggressive both with my hubs and I and Rosie, there were a couple of unprovoked attacks, then on Thursday night he sprayed on the door curtain, he's also already wee'd on the kitty litter matts and bathroom matts, so it was decided to return him to the shelter. I think he will do better as an only cat, he was quite food aggressive.

Saturday we went to FullyChargedLive at Silverstone race circuit, this is a show about sustainable energy from sun and wind etc, we have a Kia Soul EV, we were amazed to see 7 other Souls as there arnt that many in the UK just yet. We also saw lots of other EV's including Tesla, Renault Zoe, Nissan Leaf original and 2.0, BMW i3 and a Hyundai Ioniq on display we also saw a Jaguar i-Pace a VW e-Golf and a VW e-Up :)

Sunday was the day we brought Tiberius back to the shelter, really sad to take him back but it wasnt fair on him being stressed for food and trying to be dominate cat.  On the way back from the cat shelter we stopped at one of my favourite garden centres as they do a very large range of clematis so I picked up a Montana Rubens for the front of the pergola.

Then the motor sport part of the day got under way, first up we watched Detroit race one of Indycar which was pretty good with Scott Dixon winning, then we watched the Formula E race from Switzerland which was fantastic, lot of thrills in that one and penalties, Lucas Di Grassi won. Then on to the main event the Formula One race from Canada, this had a crash on the first lap for Lance Stroll and Brendan Hartley thankfully both ok but out of the race, then it was a very um sedate race in which Sebastian Vettel won  and Lewis Hamilton was 5th which means that Vettel takes over the lead in the driver championship. Not sure what happened as usually Canada is one of the more exciting races on the calendar, unfortunately not this year, next race up is the French GP which we havent had for 10 years and we'll be racing at the Paul Ricard circuit near Marseille.

The nails I've been wearing all weekend since Friday are Virago Varnish Combat Boots and Bodysuits a mustard yellow, which matched the top I wore for Fully Charged perfectly.

I'll also throw in some photos of my roses the orange/yellow is Piccadilly and the pale pinky/lilac is called Blue Moon which smells amazing.

Zoya Giada for Migraine Awareness Month

Today I have the stunning Giada to share with you, this is a dark vampy purple with a lighter purple shimmer/flash, this is from one of my favourite collections from Zoya their Focus and Flair.

June is Migraine Awareness month and the colour is purple,  I'll be doing a few purples from my untried polishes.

Formula on this was superb, no running or pooling, not thick and it went exactly where I put it, this is one of those lit from within polishes, perfect for Christmas and New Year manis.

I've had migraine since I was 15 and have been chronic since 2009, migraine is an incurable neurological disorder, traditionally medications for other conditions where used, now we have a medication called CGRP. I've tried a lot of the preventatives and the abortives and am now having botox treatment.

Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a molecule that is synthesised in neurons (nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord). It has been implicated in different pain processes, including migraine, and functions as a vasodilator — that is, it relaxes blood vessels. Once scientists identified this target molecule, they began trying to develop ways to stop it from being activated at the start of migraines, as a kind of abortive treatment. The CGRP mAbs (monoclonal antibody) have this effect, and because they have a long duration of action (called a half-life), they can be administered much less frequently than typical migraine medications that are taken daily (with the exception of botulinum toxin, which is injected every 90 days). These new migraine medications are injected under the skin monthly, and have thus far demonstrated a statistically significant decrease in days of migraine.
